One sentence from Samdech Techo can help the coffee business grow

The already thriving and growing coffee shop industry will continue to grow further thanks to a single statement by Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the National Assembly and Senate on June 3, 2025.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on the day of the congress that on a certain day, when there is a good opportunity, he will invite Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Samdech Tea Banh, Mr. Chea Sophara, Mr. Binh Chin, and Mr. Ke Kimyan to a coffee shop to meet and discuss various matters. The king’s words regarding coffee shops will continue to make coffee shops a symbol of meeting in the future.

Since 2020, coffee shops have increased a lot, and in Phnom Penh, almost every street, whether it’s at home, on carts, or in stalls, and the taste of coffee from hand-brewed coffee to machine-brewed coffee that uses freshly ground coffee beans is becoming more and more. In some places, just 10 steps away, there is almost no coffee shop. In addition to small coffee shops, large coffee shops, both foreign and local brands, are expanding, such as Starbuck, Brown, Amazon, etc.

Mr. San Tola, a businessman, said: Now, they meet almost everything, but only in coffee shops. He claimed that “now, some business people don’t need to have an office, a shop, or many employees. They only have a phone and a computer, just sitting in a coffee shop, and they make millions of dollars in business.”

Separately, Mr. Sokun, a business person, said that offices now only exist to meet legal requirements. But the reality is that most businesses are run from coffee shops.

He continued that in coffee shops now, they want to keep the gatherings small, just 4 to 5 people. There is no need to rent a hotel room for a meeting and spend all your money. Just meet at a quiet coffee shop with a good atmosphere. You can discuss and decide on anything. He continued that coffee shops in our country are now very crowded. So the atmosphere and service, as well as the quality of the coffee, are better.

According to statistics from the website https://www.statista.com, in 2025, the demand for coffee in Cambodia is approximately 3,400 tons, worth approximately $160 million, and in 2026, the demand may increase further.
