The National Police General Office claims that criminal offenses have decreased by more than 200 cases in the first 4 months of 2025 compared to 2024. So we hope that in the near future, Cambodia will be able to truly relieve the feeling of security concerns among citizens in the near future.
Up until now, concerns about security and safety issues regarding various crimes are still present in the minds and feelings of citizens, just less and more. But if the trend of the competent authorities is better, the citizens will be more confident and we expect that it will reduce the citizens’ concerns.
When citizens leave their locked houses to go to work or travel far from home, what they worry about is thieves breaking into their homes. When they ride a motorbike to do business and leave it, they worry about thieves stealing their motorbikes. If they ride a car, they worry about thieves breaking windows or breaking doors to steal this or that thing. Even when they are at home, especially at night, they worry about thieves breaking into their homes and stealing things like phones and wallets. When they travel, they worry about muggings. When they travel at night, when it is a little late at night, they are afraid of gangs of people who are trying to rob them. Sometimes, even when they are eating and drinking, they are afraid because they are afraid of drunk people who will have a bad time.
The above passive problem has decreased, but it still exists. Therefore, the authorities and the armed forces, who have core duties and responsibilities on this issue, must continue to pay more attention.
Please join us in congratulating and being very happy when we read the report published on the social media of the National Police General Office, which claimed that in the first 4 months of 2025, the authorities of the Ministry of Interior have suppressed 886 criminal offenses. This number, compared to the same period in 2024, decreased by 266 times, equivalent to more than 23.09 percent, and compared to the same period in 2024.
A source quoted by the Ministry of Interior’s deputy spokesman, Touch Sokha, said that criminal offenses decreased by 29 times and misdemeanor offenses decreased by 237 times.
The spokesman said that the decreased offenses include aggravated theft Rape, sexual assault, extortion, theft, burglary, involuntary manslaughter, domestic violence, fraud, breach of trust, and illegal use of weapons, etc. He said that effectively suppressing criminal offenses is one of the six priority areas that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sar Sokha has focused on implementing since the beginning of the 7th term.
He said that the Ministry of the Interior, as the chief of staff to the Royal Government, under the leadership of Samdech Thibault Hun Manet, has also promoted and regularly monitored the implementation of the policy of safe villages, communes and sanctuaries to ensure the provision of warmth to citizens.
Last year, traffic showed positive signs, with reports of a decrease last year. So if this year, the authorities continue to strengthen law enforcement properly, and traffic accidents continue to decrease, and crime, especially criminal offenses, continues to decrease, like in the first four months of the year, and drug offenses also decrease, then security will improve.
Therefore, citizens will be more calm and feel safer. The government will also receive more support from the people.
