A story of a group of monks in a luxury car, driven by a monk himself, has been shared on Facebook, leading to questions about whether such actions and behavior are right or wrong.

This incident is known to have occurred on August 24, 2025, after the incident occurred while talking to residents on Street No. 271 in Toul Kork District, Phnom Penh.
The vehicle in question was a modern white Lexus. According to what people took and posted on social media, the monk was seen in the car, and what is more important, the car was driven by the monk himself.

According to the sharing, the same source continued that apart from that strange scene, what was noteworthy was that a monk came down to mediate with the people. Such actions are shown through gestures, words, and actions that are advertised.
When seeing such actions, citizens also became suspicious and asked for clarification on this case.
Through the advertising, comments, and opinions, citizens also requested that the Department of Cults and Religion investigate this case.
After receiving the video shared like this, many citizens came to criticize it, saying that this was an unethical or uncivilized act…etc.

Some citizens said that the action of a monk driving a car by himself was inappropriate because in Cambodia it is rare to see monks driving by themselves.
Some citizens added that monks should not drive a car by themselves because this is an inappropriate action in Cambodia because many monks have never seen any monks driving a car by themselves.
Some others also said that the lay people who said that the above action was against the rules And such activities should not be mentioned by the monks if they do not know. They argue that the monks’ discipline is not on our lips, but on the contrary, the monks themselves should not indulge in patnapatni.
In short, this is the professional work of the Ministry of Cults and Religion and the Supreme Council of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which should study, investigate and decide according to the law and the correct dharma and discipline. In fact, the story of the monk driving this car may not be stated in the dharma and discipline because during the time of the Buddha, human society did not yet have this type of vehicle in use. But if we talk about gestures, actions, and behavior, there will definitely be some points or verses that define it.
