In the first quarter of 2025, the main export markets for Cambodian goods were reported by the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia to be 20 countries, including almost every continent except Africa and South America.
According to a recently released government statistic, all export trading partners are in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, and the export volume in the first quarter of 2025 was worth 6.8 billion dollars with an increase of about 9.8 percent.
The same source said that so far, North America, namely Cambodia, has three major markets: the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with the United States as a whole, Cambodia exported 2.4 billion dollars, Canada more than 282 million dollars, while Mexico has more than 57 million dollars.
The next major market is Asia, which includes Vietnam, China, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and India. With a total export value of approximately $2.4 billion. For Europe, there are Spain, England, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium and Poland, which are worth approximately $1.2 billion.
In Oceania, there is only one Australia, with Cambodia’s export market in the first quarter of 2025 having a total value of nearly $59 million.
An analyst said that there are still many opportunities to diversify the Cambodian market. For example, Africa as a whole has 54 countries, but sometimes Cambodia should also look at the possibilities and the ability to make profits.
For Africa, the analyst stated that it is a large market, but the production capacity and the ability to push Cambodian goods to that market may require a lot of logistics costs because it is far away and the price can also be cheap.
The same analyst mentioned that Europe is a potential gateway, namely Including the European Union, the entire continent of Europe has 50 countries, most of which have high living standards, so they can be good markets.
For Asia, in addition to existing markets, sub-regions such as the Middle East, which has 17 countries, are also markets that should be considered and considered. However, Cambodia is currently making efforts, but has not yet reaped significant results.
