Durian story! Sellers must be honest and not sell durian that harms people’s health.

Durian sellers, both online and in person at markets or on the streets, are flourishing to the point of causing public order problems, prompting authorities to issue warnings and instructions. But suddenly, a community has come out to raise doubts about the source of durian in these markets again.

The durian that is being sold in bulk, and the place where the authorities investigated, is at the Vithi Preah Sihanouk section in the administrative territory of the 7 Makara District Authority.

Regarding public order, the district authorities have also issued instructions and signed contracts with those durian traders, giving them 3 days, from May 7 to 9, 2025, to stop operating in an unregulated manner, causing chaos, disrupting public order, and affecting the beauty of the area. But it has not yet been confirmed about the quality or source of the durian that is continuously flooding the market.

In addition, up until now, durian has been sold in large quantities throughout the capital, in some places sold by carts, in some places people drive modern cars to sell them, with most of them stating that they are local durians, not imported durians. However, along with the explosion of people selling this seasonal fruit, a source has also issued a statement that raises doubts about the source of these durians. .

Related to this issue, the Durian Farming Community of Anlong Stung Trang in Kampong Cham Province, which is known as a community that can supply fresh durian, has been A statement has urged eaters and vendors, as well as authorities, to pay attention to the source of durian being sold, following reports on social media casting doubt on Vietnamese durian, which is being banned by Chinese authorities due to concerns about phytosanitary issues, particularly related to the detection of chemicals.

The community issued an open letter dated May 7, 2025, noting that in the past, there has been a trend of durian being sold in various provinces and cities. The capital and province have been promoting the sale of durians claiming to be fake durians, especially on social media, which could affect durian farmers in the entire territory of the fake durians.

The same community claimed that the durians did not have a real source or could be durians imported from neighboring countries that China does not allow to be imported due to concerns about the health effects of consumers.

The same source continued that the day it announced The durian that has broken its stem is not yet ripe for harvesting, and the amount of durian that can be harvested is very small and cannot be sold in large quantities, such as tons, as is the case today. The community also warned durian eaters to choose carefully for their own health.

The announcement came after social media shared a story about Vietnamese durians flooding the market due to a ban by Chinese authorities and the price of durians in Vietnam dropping. In particular, Vietnam’s official newspaper VN Express reported that durian prices have indeed fallen because China has tightened controls on durian imports after the number of durian exporters to China has increased.

The newspaper reported that the price of Vietnamese durian is currently falling on the market, with one kilogram costing only $1.35 to $2.69, down 30 percent. The newspaper did not report that Vietnamese durians contain chemicals, but only that Vietnamese durians are required by Chinese authorities to be inspected and strictly tested for Auramine O, a substance that is used in agriculture but is banned because it can cause cancer.

After receiving this information, those who are hungry for durian before deciding to buy should ask for the source clearly, and the seller must be honest, do not lie, do not cheat, do not cheat. Because they want to make a profit, they take durians that are imported from the country and sell them to their own people in the country.

In addition, the relevant authorities should conduct research to check where those durians come from and whether the durians on the market contain substances that can cause cancer or not. Don’t just sit back and let the people suffer, because at this time, the Ministry of Health has shown that there are approximately 20,000 new cases of cancer and approximately 14,000 deaths per year.
