Based on the momentum of Cambodia’s agricultural exports in the first half of the year, which achieved a growth of about 27 percent, analysts predict that Cambodia could export agricultural products worth more than $5 billion by 2025.

According to export statistics announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Cambodia exported 7.83 million tons of agricultural products in the first half of the year, an increase of more than 27 percent.
The report claimed that with this amount of agricultural exports, Cambodia could achieve a total income of $2.87 billion. The main agricultural commodities that Cambodia could export during that period included rice, rubber, cassava, mangoes, yellow bananas, pepper, cashew nuts, pailin, corn, and palm oil, among others.

Based on the growth rate that Cambodia has achieved in the first half of this year, analysts predict that by the end of 2025, Cambodia could achieve total exports worth more than $5 billion. The analyst said that the source of this growth could partly come from the export of a new product, durian, as last week Cambodia was able to open the durian export market to 17 million tons.

In 2024, Cambodia achieved a total export volume of 11.6 million tons with a total value of approximately $4.79 billion. Based on these statistics, those who have been monitoring the status of Cambodian agricultural exports say that with just five months left, the total export volume in 2025 could exceed the total export volume in 2024.

The same source continued that Agricultural exports to Thailand may decline, but are unlikely to be severely affected, and Cambodia can find a way to fill the gap, especially with exports to China and Vietnam.
So far, agriculture has been one of the four pillars supporting Cambodia’s economic growth, along with exports of clothing, footwear, and travel goods, tourism, and construction and real estate.
