Cambodia and Thailand are likely to receive tariff relief from the United States as the United States plans to announce tariffs on US imports by August 1st.

The analysis of the possibility of tariff relief is due to the fact that the two countries reached a ceasefire agreement on July 28, under the initiative of US President Donald Trump, who warned that there would be no signing of a trade agreement if there was no immediate ceasefire on the Cambodian-Thai border.

Mr. Trump reaffirmed his stance of wanting to see peace in the Cambodian-Thailand border area after days of fighting in Cambodia. He contacted the prime ministers of Cambodia and Thailand about this position before their meeting in Kuala Lumpur on July 28.

However, the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries will be important, influencing Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on goods from Cambodia and the United States.
