Cambodian Prime Minister has been busy all week, meeting with regional leaders to drum up market and investment.

This week, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will be busy meeting with leaders of ASEAN member countries and Japan to lay a stronger foundation for economic and political relations with the other nine countries in ASEAN and Japan.

Samdech Thip Dee and Madam Pech Chan Mony, along with a number of senior Cambodian officials, left Cambodia on May 25 to attend the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from May 26 to 27.

On May 26 His Majesty has also begun attending ASEAN summits and has already met with leaders from several countries, such as Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzadin Waddaulah, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Lao Prime Minister Sonxay Siphandon. The Prime Minister will also be able to continue to meet with other ASEAN leaders, in addition to meeting at the ASEAN Summit.

During his visit to Malaysia, Prime Minister Hun Sen Manet will discuss with ASEAN leaders on key issues including strengthening economic cooperation, infrastructure development and regional security.

Therefore, His Majesty’s visit to Malaysia will be a valuable opportunity for His Majesty to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues to explore and expand cooperation between Cambodia and other countries with the aim of creating peace, stability and development for Cambodia.

While Cambodia is enjoying political stability And peace, the government is making every effort to ensure that the Cambodian economy continues to grow and expand more strongly to withstand the storm of the global crisis.

Promoting investment and trade between Cambodia and the other nine countries in ASEAN will be a key focus when the King meets the other nine ASEAN leaders in Malaysia. As the President is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit until May 27, he will also be on an official visit to Japan from May 28 to 31.
The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that during his official working visit to Japan, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru and is also scheduled to meet with leaders of the Japanese legislative body.

Japan is a major aid provider to Cambodia And with good cooperation with Cambodia, the President will turn this visit into an expansion and strengthening of cooperation in all fields with Japan for the benefit of both countries. Equally important, the President is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the 30th International Conference on the Future of Asia and will also attend the Cambodia-Japan Business Forum.

Therefore, the President’s visit to Japan will also help boost trade between Cambodia and Japan, especially expanding Cambodian exports to the Japanese market and attracting more Japanese investors to do business in Cambodia.

The meeting between Mr. Hun Manet And regional leaders this week demonstrated Cambodia’s creativity in strengthening international relations, with key interests such as economics, politics, and culture, as well as other sectors.
