Living in this day and age, be careful about everything, including protecting and maintaining your bank accounts and social media accounts. Otherwise, be careful of bringing things to your attention without doing anything.
Because technology has advanced, it has become easier for us and has made it easier for us to use it faster and cheaper. But along with this speed and convenience, sometimes we forget, leading to criminals stealing our accounts and using them to carry out various activities that we are unaware of.
In fact, recently, the Department of Anti-Technology Crime has just opened an investigation into a case involving the theft of Facebook accounts. In this case, a woman stole and took control of a Facebook account, a popular social network in Cambodia, and impersonated the account owner and sent messages via messenger to relatives or acquaintances of the victim in order to scam them into borrowing money.
It is not known how the victim found out about this activity. But fortunately, in this case, the authorities were able to find the suspect and take action.
According to the Department of Anti-Technology Crime, after identifying the suspect, with the coordination of the prosecutor attached to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, the department arrested a female suspect. After questioning by the authorities, the woman, who was a suspect with a flesh-and-blood appearance that did not fit the suspect in the case, confessed that she had used the bank account of an acquaintance to receive money from the mastermind, receiving a commission for each payment received, all of which was obtained from the fraud under the image above.

Currently, the above suspect has been sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court by the Department of Criminal Investigation and the Phnom Penh Municipal Court’s investigating judge has issued an order to detain him in pretrial detention to investigate and find other accomplices.
According to the information disclosed, it is not known whether It is not known what problems the victim, who is the owner of this account, encountered, and it is not known how much money the suspect and his gang were able to use such images to carry out activities. But it is a message to all of us to be very careful about account management.
According to general technicians, apart from hackers who have the skills to infiltrate and steal control, the fact that criminals can secretly infiltrate and use our accounts can come from various factors: taking the phone for repair, throwing the phone away, the fact that we frequently access social networks at public utility service points or shared utilities, and the fact that someone borrows the phone for communication, etc.
Please don’t be careless! Our phones are now like a key to our daily lives. Because in this phone, we have everything from bank accounts to various social networks, from Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, etc., so if we are careless, there will be risks.
Please don’t trust people you know too well, and don’t let them hold your phone and press this or that button. And when our phone is broken or old and we don’t want to use it anymore, or we want to change our phone, please try to Sign Out, that is, leave all social networks and accounts. In other words, we must clean up everything related to ourselves to prevent people from taking advantage of the opportunity to do things like the suspect above.
In addition, for the authorities, in addition to celebrating, we also hope that through the confession of the suspect, they will investigate and crack down on the ringleaders in this network and bring them to justice. According to the suspect, there are many people involved, so hopefully the authorities will find them and bring them to justice.
In short, for safety, please try to protect and maintain our bank accounts and social networks well to protect ourselves from opportunists. In particular, regarding messages that friends borrow money or tell us the reason for this, in the case of sending us money, please verify and clarify clearly. Because at this time, paying money is easy, fast, and quick, sometimes that ease is what leads to losses. Please be vigilant because criminals take advantage of every step when we are not careful.
