In addition to the existing markets on the export list for the first seven months of 2025, the Cambodian Rice Federation has identified two new rice markets: Africa and the Middle East, but the quantities and prices are not detailed because the quantities are still small.

The situation and quantity are not much, but hopefully Cambodia can continue to maintain the sustainability of these two new markets and try to expand in the future, the Cambodian rice market will grow even bigger.
The Cambodian Rice Federation said that from January to July 2025 Cambodia exported a total of 420,572 tons of rice, worth $309.32 million. And compared to the same period in 2024, Cambodian rice export volume increased by 10.81 percent, and the value increased by 10.36 percent.

The same source said that the volume and value of this export were made by a total of 51 companies and the destinations were 65, but most were traditional destinations such as the European Union, China, ASEAN and other countries in Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Statistics of exports to Europe, 26 countries, achieved a total of 200,772 tons of rice, worth nearly $157 million, to China and Hong Kong, 105,621 tons. That’s over $62 million. To seven ASEAN countries, 57,179 tons were exported, worth more than $40 million, and to 32 other destinations, including Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc., 57,000 tons were exported, worth more than $50 million.
Regarding the rice market in Africa and the Middle East, analysts said they hope that rice exporters to those markets will be able to maintain a strong and stable market. .
For the Middle East, it may not be a problem because the market is a rich market, so prices are not very high, but the important thing is that the quality must be guaranteed because the market is a rich country market, and usually the rich pay the most attention to the quality and luxury of the products imported to their market.
The problem is in Africa because the distance is far, and most of the markets have economic conditions and resources similar to ours, so exporters may have to weigh up and consider strong marketing strategies.
So far, most of Cambodia’s rice exports are fine rice, with fragrant rice accounting for 77.65% of all rice exports, long-grain white rice at 15.61%, brown rice at 3.27%, organic rice at 2.61%, and other types of rice at 0.86%.
In addition to rice, Cambodia also exported more than 3.87 million tons of wet rice, worth more than $914 million.
With such a large volume of rice exports, Cambodia may still have the potential to expand its rice market further, as the amount of rice exported without processing is already large.
