The Chinese market has been gradually opening up to receive agricultural products from Cambodia, which so far have reached about 16 types. Therefore, if Cambodia can attract and encourage just 10 percent of Chinese citizens to buy products, it doesn’t take much, just $1, Cambodia can earn more than $2 billion a year.

Mr. Wang Wenbin, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, took to his social media on August 12, 2025, congratulating Cambodia on its airlift of durians to the Chinese market.
He said that Transporting Cambodian durians by air to the Chinese market can maintain their quality and flavor, so durian farmers consider air transportation to be a significant advantage.

According to the Chinese ambassador, China has currently granted Cambodia permission to export a total of 16 agricultural products. He said that the 16 Cambodian agricultural products that are allowed to be exported to the Chinese market include rice, dried cassava, corn, bananas, mangoes, ginger, coconuts, pepper, cashew nuts, sesame seeds, fertilizer, rubber, natural fisheries, farmed fisheries, fish and durian. He said that these show the strong momentum and remarkable fruitful achievements of cooperation between the two countries.

So far, China It is one of the largest markets in the world, and many countries are eager to obtain permission to export products to China. Currently, although the Chinese population has fallen to second place after India, the entire country with the second largest economy in the world has a market of 1.4 billion people.
Based on this market, an analyst said that Cambodia should study and try to set the right target for exporting products to China. He said that in the case where the market is clearly targeted, Cambodia will be able to receive broader opportunities in strengthening the agricultural sector. He said that with just these 16 items, if proper planning and strategy are set, Cambodian agricultural products will not lose their market.
He said that among these products, if Cambodia can attract and encourage Chinese people, it doesn’t take much, just 10 percent of the total population spends their money a year buying Cambodian products, just one dollar per person, and those Cambodian agricultural products can be exported for more than 2 billion dollars.
The analyst encouraged exporters to think And prepare a clear marketing strategy to realize the potential for the country’s development.
What analysts have mentioned is just an expectation and a rough estimate, but in reality, in the past 7 months, the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia has claimed that Cambodia can only export to this country an estimated $888 million.
